On behalf of the members of the Pacific Rim Research Libraries Alliance (PRRLA), we mourn the passing of Ms. Sylvia Yap Swee Beng, a respected leader in academic librarianship and a valued member of the Pacific Rim library community.
Ms. Yap was an active contributor to regional and international library networks, including the Pacific Rim Digital Library Alliance (PRDLA, now known as the Pacific Rim Research Libraries Alliance, PRRLA), and played a key role in organizing the IFLA World Library Congress 2013 in Singapore.
Beyond her professional achievements, Ms. Yap stimulated generations of librarians and information professionals with her passion, integrity, and unwavering belief in the power of libraries to transform lives.
